CLEARFIELD – By land or by water, there will be plenty of motor thrills in Clearfield County this weekend.
Thrills in the Hills is set for Friday and Saturday in the Clearfield Driving Park with featured entertainment by Grand Funk Railroad, The Ozone Rangers and Rusty Gun Revival. The Ozone Rangers will perform Friday at 8 p.m.; Rusty Gun Revival Saturday at 3 p.m.; and Grand Funk Railroad will take the stage at 7 p.m. Saturday.
Psycho Gang Thrill Riders and Team Contraband (Harley street extreme stunt team) will also be peforming at Thrills. Rick Boni of Appalachian Arts Studio create wood carvings with a chainsaw as his sculpting tool. Denny’s Beer Barrel Pub is sponsoring a burger-eating contest Saturday at 2 p.m. near the beer garden.
A Dice Run will be held Saturday with a $1,750 purse. Registration is from 8 a.m. until noon under the grandstand at the Clearfield Driving Park. All contestants must be back in park by 5 p.m. or be disqualified. All contestants must be on motorcycles and must pay gate admission to the event. There is a $15. per contestant registration fee. Everyone registered receives a T-shirt, and registration is limited to the first 150 people. If registration sells out, dice run coordinators may start the event early.
Tickets for Thrills in the Hills will be $11 in advance or $15 at the gate. The ticket is good for the entire event. Official Thrills in the Hills T-shirts and tank tops are available for purchase at the fair office.
Thrills on the Water will entertain crowds at Curwensville Lake with boat races, a die-cast derby, craft festival and plenty of food and other vendors Sunday. The main event features American Power Boat Association Sanctioned Speedboat Races. Racers from as far away as Texas, Canada, Michigan and Florida plan to come vie for points and trophies.
