HARRISBURG – A one-block section of Commonwealth Avenue will reopen to vehicular traffic Friday morning, following the completion of utility
tie-in work for the Commonwealth Judicial Center, the Department of General Services said.
The section of Commonwealth Avenue that will reopen is between Forster and North streets. The closure, in effect since June 4, was needed to allow workers to dig a trench across the street so steam, sanitary, storm and electrical connections to the new building could be made.
Work began in late 2006 on the $107 million Commonwealth Judicial Center.
new structure will provide approximately 425,000 square feet of office and court space. Overall work is expected to be completed in mid-2009.
