UNIVERSITY PARK – For their role in the April 1 incident resulting in injury at an off-campus apartment, 10 students have received University charges and sanctions.
Four of these students received temporary expulsions from the University beginning July 1 and continuing through the remainder of the 2007 summer semester. They also received permanent probation to begin at the end of the summer semester through graduation.
All four students will be eligible to return to the University at the start of the 2007 fall semester, pending verification that they have completed counseling related to the misconduct and community service hours required.
Two other students received permanent probation, counseling and community service, while four other students received extended probation for one year and community service.
In addition to the expulsions and probation, seven students are also required to meet with the vice president and associate vice president for Student Affairs to discuss their misconduct.
These sanctions are separate from any other discipline that may be imposed by Intercollegiate Athletics.
The student code of conduct is a means the University has to address inappropriate student behavior outside of any kind of sanction a student may receive in a court of law.
