Chicago Man Held on Charges of Transporting ED Drugs

CLEARFIELD – A Chicago man is in Clearfield County Jail after he waived his right to a preliminary hearing on charges that he was illegally transporting two types of erectile dysfunction drugs.

Safwat A. Amhed, 36, was stopped on Interstate 80 in Sandy Township after his vehicle was clocked at a speed of 85 mph on the 65 mph highway.

After being given a verbal warning for speeding, the trooper informed him that he was free to go. The trooper then obtained Amhed’s consent to search the vehicle.

In the trunk of the car, the trooper found several bottles of medication that Amhed said were “weight-lifting supplements.”

The trooper then advised Amhed that because the tablets in the bottles were stamped with the name of Pfizer, a drug manufacture, he had to have a prescription to possess the drug.

Amhed was then placed under arrest for possession of 11,375 Cialis tablets and 6,831 Viagra tablets.

Amhed had been jailed in lieu of $50,000 bail for possession of a controlled substance and other counts. Magisterial District Judge Patrick N. Ford reduced his bail to $25,000.
