Mountain Laurel Kennel Club to Hold Pet Memorial and Healing Service

CLEARFIELD – The annual Pet Memorial and Healing Service co-sponsored by the Mountain Laurel Kennel Club and Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home is slated for June 24 at 6 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church, Clearfield, with the Rev. Rodger Gorton officiating.

The church is located at the corner of East Seventh and Dorey streets in Clearfield’s East End neighborhood.

The event features two beautiful and moving portions, a candle lighting ceremony to remember deceased pets and intercessory prayers for ill and ailing animals. Participants are welcome to bring a favorite toy or other item to be blessed during the healing service.

Noted Val Swales, organizer for the club, “We want to honor all animals and the important places they have or had in our lives, whether it is your childhood dog or your cat who passed away last month.”

“Grief and anxiety over illness are very real where animals are concerned but are not always acknowledged. We hope this service will bring peace and comfort to those who need it,” she added.

Participants will also have the opportunity to share stories about their pets.

A freewill offering will be taken with the proceeds donated to animal welfare organizations. A reception will follow in the church Fellowship Hall. For more information, call 765-6352.
