HARRISBURG – Gov. Edward G. Rendell nominated John E. Wetzel, warden of the Franklin County Jail in Chambersburg, to serve on the state Board of Pardons.
“I’m pleased to nominate Warden John Wetzel to fill this important position,” Rendell said. “John’s years of experience as a prison administrator will enable him to provide a unique and valued perspective that will contribute greatly to the board’s deliberations and decisions.”
The Board of Pardons consists of five members: the lieutenant governor, who serves as chairman; the attorney general; and three members appointed by the governor subject to confirmation by the Pennsylvania Senate.
The three appointed members are a corrections expert, a crime victim representative, and doctor of medicine, psychiatrist or psychologist. Members serve six year terms.
