BECCARIA TOWNSHIP – Clearfield-based state police report that a two-vehicle accident late Thursday night resulted in the death of one Mahaffey woman.
The accident happened along state Route 53 at about 8:15 p.m.
A Ronald Mack, 56, of Ashville, was traveling south when he attempted to negotiate a left curve in the road. He traveled onto the west berm, struck guide rails then re-entered the roadway in the north lane of travel. Mack’s vehicle then struck a vehicle driven by Heather Bouch, 31, of Mahaffey. Mack’s vehicle overturned onto its roof before coming to rest in the northbound lane. Bouch’s vehicle stopped at the point of impact.
Mack suffered serious injuries and was transported to Altoona Hospital. Two juvenile passengers in the Bouch vehicle were also taken to ALtoona Hospital.
Police did not note whether Bouch was prounounced dead at the scene, but she was the only person involved in the accident who was not transported to a hospital.
Police report noted that all involved were wearing their seatbelts.
The investigation continues, according to police. Officer were assisted at the scene by Glendale Fire Department, Irvona Fire Co., Irvona Ambulance, Madera Ambulance and PennDOT.
