CLEARFIELD – Clearfield Borough Council continued discussions on the possibility of hiring a borough manager at Thursday’s work session.
The suggestion for a borough manager came from a financial study conducted on the borough.
The Personnel Committee is to review the borough manager ordinances currently in place for Clearfield Borough in an attempt to make a recommendation to the full council. The committee will examine how the borough manager would fit into the current structure of the borough and potential salary.
The current borough secretary handles many of the financial transactions of the borough, and the committee will also look at how a manager would fit into that arrangement. It was discussed at this and previous meetings that there could be CEO and chief financial officer positions.
Prior to adjourning for the night, the council called a one-hour executive session to discuss the roles of the mayor and the chief of police. Upon returning from the session, the meeting was adjourned after Solicitor F. Cortez “Chip” Bell III explained that there were some issues Mayor Patty Gilliland and Chief Jeff Rhone were to address in the presence of one another.
The full council will meet for a regular meeting Thursday at 7 p.m. at the borough building.
