CURWENSVILLE – After a brief executive session at Monday’s meeting, Curwenville Borough Council voted to authorize back payment for Dave Johnson, a borough police officer.
The council approved the back payment of an additional $1.69 per hour going back to Aug. 9 That rate will be added to his regular rate as long as he is the officer in charge at the borough.
The council also authorized the police committee to review the current applications for officers and make a recommendation for a part-time officer at the July meeting.
About three months ago, the council added the responsibility of code enforcement to the police department. The officers have always had the power to enforce the laws, but the shift gave the duty fully to the police.
Johnson told council earlier in the meeting that he tries to spend two days per week working on code enforcement, but if a police call comes in, he must put the code work on hold.
