CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Riverfront Festival officially opened just before lunchtime Thursday, welcoming another summer in Clearfield County with free, family entertainment.
The old favorites are still there from crafters selling their wares to food vendors offering up some festival favorites, but some new additions are making the annual event in Clearfield’s Lower Witmer Park even more welcoming to families with little ones.
The biggest change festival-goers will find is the new Diaper Changing Tent, centrally located near the park’s gazebo.
The Diaper Derby also returns after a several-year hiatus. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. Saturday with races in three categories beginning at 11 a.m.
Eileen Curry, one of the festival’s organizers, said the Riverfront committee is also selling new chances this year to raise funds. For a $5 chance, people will have the opportunity to win a $500 Sheetz gift card to be given away Saturday night.
“We’re very excited about this kickoff to summer,” she said, adding that the weather is expected to cooperate this year.
