DUBOIS – Supervisors voted on the approval for the final payment of township legal fees and costs at Monday’s Sandy Township meeting.
The township finished paying for legal services rendered by approving a $6,005.52 final payment.
Legal action was needed when the township disputed legal fees for sewer service imposed by DuBois City. The supervisors disagreed with a decision that the towship owed $1.75 million for a period of time when a lower sewer rate was paid by the township.
The township’s total bill for legal fees is estimated at about $650,000, according to Manager Dick Castonguay.
The supervisors also decided unanimously to take over of two local water companies.
The Adrian and Maloney Road water companies are the two companies to be taken over by the township.
“I’m glad we are moving ahead with the water companies,” said Jim Jeffers, supervisor, in response to the decision made by the group.
The township is in talks to take over a third, unnamed, water company.
The next meeting for Sandy Township will be July 2 beginning at 7 p.m. A sign ordinance will be discussed at 6:30 p.m. on the same date.
