CLEARFIELD – State police at Clearfield are not releasing many details at this time, but troopers are saying that two people were killed when a bus carrying 35 people crashed on Interstate 80 early Sunday morning.
Police report that the bus was traveling east on Interstate 80 in Pine Township at mile marker 114 at 3:30 a.m. when the driver lost control while negotiating a left turn. The bus overturned and came to rest in the median.
Two people were killed in the accident, and many others suffered injuries ranging from minor to severe. Those injured were transported to Clearfield Hospital and Altoona Regional Medical Center.
As of 12:18 p.m. Sunday, Interstate 80 was closed, and traffic was being re-routed through downtown Clearfield.
The identities of the driver and those killed were not released as of posting time pending further investigation and notification of the next of kin.
Police said more information will be released at a later time.
