Fire Destroys Residence in Kersey

KERSEY – Ridgway-based state police reported that a fire destroyed a residence in Kersey on Monday.

The investigation was conducted by the Fox Township Fire Chief and a Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal.

In the report police stated that Kersey resident Gerald McCracken, 57, and his two children, ages 1 and 3 were at home at the time of the fire and escaped without injury. Damage is estimated at $60,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Fox Township Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the Crystal Fire Department, Ridgway Fire Department, Horton Fire Department, Fox Township Ambulance and the American Red Cross. The Jay Township Fire Department was on stand-by at the Fox Township station.
