Clearfield Girl\’s Slow-Pitch League Needs You!

It’s that time of year to start planning for summer softball fun! This is a recreational league open to girls of all skill levels, beginner to advanced, as the coaches will start with the basics. One of the goals of the league is that the girls have fun and make new friends.

The League has been active in the Clearfield area for about 15 years. In that time it has gone through some changes, but the biggest changes occurred last year when it switched from a fast-pitch league to a slow-pitch league. This was a big change for the league but was a tremendous success for us.

No traveling is necessary, as the games are played in the Clearfield area. The only equipment the players need is a ball glove, as the league provides bats and balls. Cleats are permitted but not required.

The League is also in need individuals to umpire. Arrangements have been made with the ASA (American Softball Association) to present a one-day clinic and attendees who pass the test at the end of the clinic will be ASA certified umpires. Those who wish to volunteer do not need to be professionals but should be familiar with the game. There will be no cost to the volunteer.

Depending on how many girls sign-up, there may also be a need for more coaches and assistant coaches. Anyone interested in helping should come to the registration.

Girls who were 12 years old as of December 31, 2006 and 8 years old as of January 1, 2007, will be eligible to PLAY BALL!!! Sign-ups will be held April 30th and May 1st from 6:00 to 7:30 each evening in the Grove at the Clearfield Fairgrounds. Registration fee is $15 per player.

If you have questions, please call Sue after 6:00 PM at 765-7327.
