KARTHAUS – The Quehanna Industrial Development Corporation held their regular monthly meeting on April 16. Final plans are being made for the sixth annual West Branch of the Susquehanna River Wild/Kayak Race on May 5.
110 participants have pre-registered. Pre-registration will be accepted until May 1. Registrations will be taken at the Rolling Stone Bridge, located near Frenchville from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. on May 5. The race will start at 11 a.m. The entry fee is $15 per boater. An awards ceremony will be held at the Karthaus firehall after the race.
Volunteers are needed to run shuttle service between Karthaus and the Rolling Stone Bridge between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. Contact QIDC to volunteer for that service. Donated items will be welcome to to be used for door prizes.
Volunteers are also needed to help distribute fliers with rules and entry forms for the flower garden contest. All area residents, businesses and organizations within the 100 Mile Yard Sale area are urged to enter this contest to make the area a very beautiful place to live and visit.
QIDC would like to remind people that would like to set up in the 100 Mile Yard Sale to have their entry information in by May 15 to be listed in the yard sale directory. There will be 4,000 or more directories printed and distributed in all parts of Pennsylvania and surrounding states. It is important to be listed in the directory so shoppers will know where sellers live and what they will be offering.
People who live outside of the 100 Mile Yard Sale area can set up if they contact QIDC and a location will be found for them. The entry fee to set up is $5 per entry. The 100 Mile Yard Sale will be July 20 and 21.
A decision was made to locate a place in Karthaus to place a permanent information site that will display all events that will take place in the Quehanna Area. This will be placed in a location where travelers entering the area from Centre County will be welcomed and they will see all up coming events in the area. The site will be located along state Route 879.
The Pottersdale Highway clean-up will be on May 19. Contact QIDC for more information on this project. Volunteers are needed.
