CLEARFIELD – A Curwensville man was arrested after he fled from police over the weekend.
Lawrence Township Police report that Shad L. Bloom failed to stop during for a roving DUI Task Force after he failed to stop at a flashing red light. Police stated that he fled for several miles through the streets and roadways of Lawrence Township and Clearfield Borough. Officers were able to close in on Bloom’s vehicle when had made a right turn off of Old Erie Pike onto Carbon Mine Road Extension where the roadway was blocked due to strip mining.
In another attempt to flee from police Bloom is reported to have backed up and turned around several times when he struck three police vehicles; one from Lawrence Township Police Department one from Curwensville Borough Police Department, and one from DuBois City Police Department.
Officers finally apprehended Bloom. Three officers were injured during the incident; two from Lawrence Township Police Department and one from DuBois City Police Department. Lawrence Township Police Department was happy to report that none of the injuries were life-threatening and that no civilians were injured. Officers from four jurisdictions helped in the apprehension, including Lawrence Township, Curwensville Borough, Clearfield Borough, and DuBois City Police Departments.
Bloom was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Michael Rudella and placed in Clearfield County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail. Bloom is charged with four counts of criminal attempt to commit homicide, multiple counts of aggravated assault, and related charges. He was found to be driving without a license and had a bench warrant. Bloom is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on April 25.
