Three-Day Trial Begins Monday for Drug Charges

CLEARFIELD – A three-day trial for two men accused of transporting a large amount of illegal drugs on Interstate 80 will begin Monday before Clearfield County Judge Paul A. Cherry.

Arnulfo Uresti of Texas and Hugo Flores of Mexico are charged with several drug-related counts including possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance, specifically cocaine.

The men were stopped on I-80 in October after a trooper observed a loose tie-down strap on their tractor-trailer and that the license plate on the trailer was obscured.

The trooper obtained consent to search and found many pounds of cocaine inside the trailer.

Giovanni Campbell will serve as counsel for Flores while Steve Jarett will represent Uresti.

The trial is expected to be a slow-moving one as interpreters will be used to translate testimony and other elements of the trial.
