Squirrel to Blame for Power Outage in Clearfield

CLEARFIELD – Microwaves and alarm clocks throughout the Clearfield area might need to be reset when you return home tonight after a squirrel caused power to flicker off and on Monday morning.

John Shimko, area manager for Penelec, said the squirrel caused the problem on Barclay Street, causing power to flicker off and on three times in Clearfield.

Penelec workers were sent out to identify the problem, locating the squirrel.

Shimko said the outage was not one that caused major problems in the area.
