North Carolina Man in Fair Condition after Bradford Township Crash

WOODLAND – A North Carolina man had to be flown to Altoona Regional Health System following a late-night accident Saturday in Bradford Township.

State police at Clearfield report that Robert S. Zimmerman, 21, of Fayetteville, N.C. was traveling north on state Route 970 near Interstate 80 when he lost control of his car. His vehicle struck a tree in a yard before hitting a chain link fence, overturning and coming to rest in a horse pasture.

Zimmerman was ejected from the vehicle.

He was transported via ambulance to Clearfield Airport and then to Altoona via helicopter. A passenger in his vehicle, Mark A. Evans Jr., 20, of Woodland, refused treatment at the scene of the crash.

Police were assisted at the scene by Clearfield Emergency Medical Services, Bigler-Jackson-Woodland Volunteer Fire Co. and Shawn’s Auto Service.
