CLEARFIELD – Clearfield Countians may take it for granted that they can take a drive along several roads and follow the West Branch of the Susquehanna River.
This little gem won’t be a secret if the Clearfield County Recreation and Tourism Authority has anything to say about it.
CCRTA Director Sandy Fink-Barrett announced to the board at a special meeting recently that she is submitting an application to have U.S. Route 219, state Route 879 and SR 969 added to the state Department of Transportation’s list of scenic byways.
Barrett still will have to convince municipalities along the proposed routes to sign on to support the plan, but it’s something Barrett said comes at no cost.
The route would guide drivers along the river from Cherry Tree to Karthaus.
