CLEARFIELD – The planning is under way for the Clearfield County Fair Queen Committee’s Fifth Annual Music Fund Fest. The event is held each year to assist the fair queen and her court in raising money for their Queens for Kids Program. All proceeds raised during the evening’s festivities are donated to the Children’s Miracle Network during the annual CMN Telethon held at DelGrosso Amusement Park.
All entertainers appearing will donate their time and talents to perform March 31 at the Clearfield Driving Park in Expo I.
Performing throughout the evening will be Jerry Schickling & North Country, The Ride and Smokin’ Joe and The Wild Horse Band.
Bob E. Day will emcee and deejay during the event.
Many people in the area are familiar with Jerry Schickling and Smokin’ Joe. However, The Ride is a new band formed in 2005 that plays a variety of modern rock, classic rock and country.
“There will be music to suit everyone’s tastes, so we encourage everyone to shake the cabin fever blues and come out for an evening of fun and help support a great charity,” stated Arlene Swales, fair queen chairperson. Two bands previously scheduled and announced were Rusty Gun Revival and Sug’r Bear. However, both have had to cancel due to previous commitments.
Tickets are $12 each in advance, and include refreshments and a snack buffet. The committee is hoping to sell all tickets prior to the event. Over 575 persons attended last year’s Music Fund Fest.
“People have been talking about the last four years’ events the entire past year, so we do recommend that those wanting to attend be sure and get their tickets early,” stated Swales. “In order to plan for enough food and drinks for the evening, we are encouraging people to purchase their tickets early. If they wait to purchase them at the door, the price will be $15. Ticket prices have been increased slightly because of the Clearfield Borough Amusement Tax, but for everything the evening has to offer, it’s still the best bargain in town.”
Tickets can be purchased at the following places in Clearfield: Zalno’s Jewelers, Clearfield Colonial Courtyard, Clearfield Fair & Park Board Office, Sandee’s Gifts; Swales Styleline Upholstery, Kim’s Hair Salon and Jim’s Sports Center. Curwensville locations are Champion’s Choice, Curwensville Dam Inn and Chidboy Funeral Home. Tickets are also available from any committee member.
Among the prizes to be given away throughout the evening will be a 14-karat diamond and emerald cocktail ring with a retail value of over $1,200. In addition an acoustical guitar, autographed by all the entertainers performing, a 20-inch television, portable sewing machine, gift certificates, overnight hotel accommodations, amusement park tickets, plus many other prizes.
All proceeds from the event will go toward the fair queen and her court’s goal of over $10,000 for the Children’s Miracle Network. Meeting that goal will give the fair queen program a six-year average of over $60,000 having been raised for the children of Clearfield County.
