CLEARFIELD – A late winter storm is expected to move into the region, causing a Winter Storm Warning to be in effect from 6 a.m. Friday until 8 a.m. Saturday.
A storm will track along the Eastern Seaboard Friday and Friday night bringing heavy snow to the region.
Snow is expected to develop across the region around or shortly after daybreak Friday and will be heavy at times. Snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches will be common before the storm tapers to lighter snow and showers late Friday night. Higher snowfall amounts are possible north of Interstate 80.
The National Weather Service reports tha if the storm intensifies more than expected, snowfall amounts could be much higher.
A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow or ice are expected or occurring. Any travel is strongly discouraged.
Those with travel plans in the warned area are advised to choose an alternate route or should use extreme caution if travel is unavoidable. Drivers should carry extra supplies including blankets, food and a cell phone in case they become stranded.
