CLEARFIELD – It will be at least another two weeks before Matthew Houser will face a judge for the first time on simple assault charges stemming from an incident last weekend in Clearfield Borough.
The 29-year-old recently reinstated Lawrence Township Police officer — who had not yet rejoineed the force — was charged with simple assault following an argument and altercation with a 23-year-old DuBois woman Saturday in the parking lot at Clearfield Hospital.
He was scheduled for a preliminary hearing Wednesday in Clearfield County Centralized Court, but the preliminary hearing for the case has been continued until March 21.
The Lawrence Township Supervisors said Tuesday that they were “extremely concerned and disheartened” regarding Houser’s alleged actions. For the full story about the supervisors’ statement, click here.
Houser remains free on $2,500 unsecured bail until the time of his hearing.
