CLEARFIELD – Bill Wood, chairman of the Clearfield Hospital Board of Directors, announced Wednesday that David J. McConnell has been named acting president and CEO of Clearfield Hospital.
McConnell joined Clearfield Hospital in July 2005 as chief financial officer. Before joining Clearfield Hospital, he was the director of finance with the Altoona Regional Health System.
Prior to his tenure with Altoona Regional Health System, McConnell worked for more than 17 years at Bon Secours Holy Family Regional Health System, formerly Mercy Hospital, serving as the vice president for finance/chief financial officer for 14 years.
At Bon Secours, he also served as interim CEO for a brief period.
A graduate of the Pennsylvania State University, he holds a bachelor of science degree in business administration. He is a fellow in the HealthCare Financial Management Association and a certified management accountant.
McConnell is active in his community. He is presently serving on the boards of St. Leonard’s Personal Care Home in Hollidaysburg and Investment Savings Bank in Altoona.
McConnell and his wife, Chris, live in Altoona. They have three children, Erin, Tim and Scott, and four grandchildren.
McConnell replaces Robert B. Murray III, who served as president and CEO of Clearfield Hospital since January 2005.
“We appreciate Mr. Murray’s contributions to the hospital and the community during his time with Clearfield Hospital. We wish him well in his future endeavors,” Wood said.
Clearfield Hospital, a subsidiary of Clearfield Area Health Services, is a private not-for-profit acute care hospital continuing a commitment to the community that began in 1901.
