CLEARFIELD – A Coalport man whose dog killed another dog was ordered to turn his animal over to authorities and pay a fine Wednesday after he entered a guilty plea to two charges.
Jon Tyler, 35, pled guilty to two summary counts of dog at large, paying a total of $150 in fines plus court costs.
Authorities said that on Jan. 11, Tyler’s female Husky-type dog was seen walking up and down Main Street in Coalport with a Shih Tzu in her mouth. The larger dog shook her head, causing the Shih Tzu to go limp.
The Husky was then said to have buried the smaller dog in Tyler’s backyard.
As part of Tyler’s plea agreement, he will also have to pay for the replacement of the Shih Tzu, an estimated $550.
