Because of that, the heavy snow warning has been extended until 10 p.m. Wednesday. A heavy snow warning means a significant amount of snow is forecast that will make travel dangerous.

Winds are expected to become gusty and from the northwest Wednesday afternoon through Wednesday night, causing considerable blowing and drifting.

Storm total snowfalls by Wednesday evening will range from 12 to 20 inches with higher amounts most likely along the New York border.
