Curwensville Lady Tide Improve to 7-3 with Win at Kane

Kane—– Holly Lansberry may never lead her team in scoring this season but she sure made her presence felt against Kane Thursday night. The little sophomore guard was big on rebounds, big on defense and big on steals and loose balls in the 49-35 win posted by Curwensville. Lansberry, the \”sixth man\” for the Lady Tide, was everywhere at the right time and place to provide the energy to help her teammates overcome a scrappy Lady Wolves team.

Curwensville jumped out to a 29-20 halftime lead only to see Kane cut it to 31-29 midway through the third stanza. Then with the hustling Lansberry and Jackie White scoring some valuable end of the period points the Lady Tide took control once again. After three periods the Tide maintained a 36-29 and never looked back as they upped their record to 7-3.

Dani Struble led the way with 19 points even though she sat out much of the second period with three fouls. White also came up big for Curwensville as she pumped in 18 and wiped the glass clean with a whole bunch of key rebounds.

The aggressive defense that began in the second period carried over on the offensive end for Curwensville as they made 16 of 24 free throws. Kane on the other hand took only 6 free throws, making just 2.

Bree Bergman, a quality sophomore, paved the way for the Lady Wolves with 16. Bergman was a force on the inside when her teammates would get her the ball.

The Lady Tide entertain Ridgway next Wednesday at Patton Hall as they go for their third straight victory in another Allegheny Mountain League contest.

In the Junior Varsity prelim Kane prevailed 35-18.
