Struble Nets 31 as Lady Tide Top DuBois Central Catholic

CURWENSVILLE- Senior guard Dani Struble scorched the nets for 31 Tuesday night as the Curwensville Lady Tide beat visiting Dubois Central Catholic 57-50. The victory stopped the two game slide by Curwensville who lost both games last weekend at the Penns Manor Tournament.

The Lady Crusaders jumped out quickly to a 6-0 lead before Curwensville got rolling to cut the margin to 11-8 after one quarter. Struble scored nine in the second quarter to pull the Lady Tide to within one at the half, 25-24.

Curwensville came out of the locker room with an aggressive attack to outscore DuBois Central Catholic 17-11 to go up by 5 after three. Once again Struble proved to be nothing short of amazing, scoring 12 in the third frame. With the Lady Tide up 38-36 and four seconds remaining in the period the super guard took the ball up the sideline in front of Curwensville coach Vic Gearhart and let one fly from at least 40 feet. As the buzzer sounded the ball bounced off the glass for a three that literally left the Lady Cardinals in a daze.

DuBois Central fought back though in the fourth as the lead changed hands a few times before Curwensville put the game away at the free throw line. The Lady Tide went 8 for 10 at the charity line to pull out their sixth win of the season. For the game the Tide shot 24 for 31 (77%) from the line.

Jackie White chipped in with 14 for Curwensville while Andrea Moyer scored 25 for the Lady Cardinals.

Curwensville, 6-3, travels to Kane Thursday for another Allegheny Mountain League game. DuBois Central Catholic drops to 5-6 on the season.

The Lady Cardinals won the Junior Varsity contest 34-26.
