DUBOIS – Christmas and holiday cards for U.S. troops overseas were mailed this week from Penn State DuBois, bearing greetings, thanks and well wishes from students, faculty and staff.
The Penn State DuBois Veteran’s Club sponsored a Christmas card signing campaign just before Thanksgiving break, generating 115 personalized cards to be sent to troops. According to Veteran’s Club president Michael White of Sigel, a senior business major, the club joined efforts with the Elk County-based “Letters from Home” program, working to assure that troops receive continual moral support in the form of letters and cards from the home front.
White said that although the cards from the Penn State DuBois drive have already been sent, anyone may personalize cards and forward them to Letters from Home Program, P.O. Box 125, Johnsonburg, Pa., 15846.
The Penn State DuBois Veterans Club plays an active role on campus and within the community, including Big Brothers – Big Sisters of Clearfield County and Boy Scouts of America. The Veterans Club is open to both veterans and non-veterans within Penn State DuBois who share an interest in service to campus and community with members hailing from the Air Force, Coast Guard, Army, and the Marines.
