CLEARFIELD – Discovery House came one step closer to getting a new building last week when the Lawrence Township Planning Commission tentatively approved their subdivision plan.
On Tuesday, the Lawrence Township Supervisors gave their approval to the subdivision plan.
According to the plans, Discovery House will be located on Airport Road and will consist of two buildings. Other than a stormwater management plan, which was turned in on Monday, no flaws could be found in the plan by the LTPC. According to LTPC Chairman Sam Yost, the location proposed in Lawrence Township does not violate Act 10, a state law regulating proximities to certain buildings in which methadone treatment facilities can operate.
Discovery House has been fighting legal battles to continue operating in Pike Township since their old building was a target of arson. The Pike Township location was found to be in violation of Act 10 by the Clearfield County Planning Commission after months of deliberation.
It is currently unknown when ground will be broken for the new structures.
