CLEARFIELD – The General Election is under way, and for the first time, Clearfield County’s voting system is completely computerized.
Clearfield Borough’s Fourth Ward polling place was up and running a little late this morning, around 7:30 a.m. But that did not stop people from casting their votes. By 8:40 a.m., 40 people had made their way through the fire company’s door.
“We had a hard time getting the machines going,” said Rose Kling, a worker at the Fourth Ward polling place. “Since then I think everything’s been okay.”
“I love it,” David Lance said of the new voting system. “I hope they get more of them.”
Ed and Carol Olson said they thought using the new machines were easy.
“It was easy,” said Carol Olson. “I was a little worried about it, but it was ok.”
Ed Olson, however, was skeptical of the new machines.
“It’s easy, but I still don’t trust it,” said Ed.
This mid-term election has a number of hotly contested races, including the governor, U.S. Senate, and state Representative.
Both Lance and Ed Olson said that they were watching the senate race during this election.
