DUBOIS – City police are asking residents to be on the look out for a man claiming to work for the water department.
According to police, a six-foot tall , large white man with a ruddy face entered residences on Morrison Street and on on the 400-block of East DuBois Avenue on Friday. It was reported the man entered the homes claiming he worked for the water company.
The man reported that there was a large water leak in the neighborhoods. Police report the man would ask homeowners to turn their water off or do other tasks while he went through the homes.
The resident on East DuBois Avenue claimed the man gained entry through a locked door, startling the occupant. The man again claimed he was with the water department. Police found no evidence of forced entry in this case.
The man made off with $400 from one residence, according to DuBois City Police.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police. Citizens are reminded that water department employees have identification cards.
