HARRISBURG, (PRNewswire) – More than $50 million in U.S. Small Business Administration disaster assistance loans have been approved for over 1,400 residents and business owners in Pennsylvania who were impacted by the severe storms, flooding and mudslides occurring June 23
through July 10, 2006.
According to Frank Skaggs, Director of Field Operation Center East, “Currently, 1,437 home and business disaster loans for the amount of
$50,698,400 have been approved for the affected victims.”
SBA also offers mitigation funds to disaster victims who have approved physical loans. SBA’s mitigation funds are designed to help borrowers fund protective measures to prevent damages of the same kind from recurring in the future. To help fund these protective measures, borrowers may request an additional 20 percent of their approved loan amount.

The deadline for economic injury applications is April 4, 2007. The deadline for physical damage applications expired October 3, 2006.
