Bison Golfers Lose Finale

HYDE — Punxsutawney Area High School\’s boys golf team overcame less than ideal conditions Thursday afternoon to spoil Clearfield\’s finale, defeating the Bisons 168-179 in a nine-hole match at the Clearfield-Curwensville Country Club.

The rain and chilly temperature didn\’t bother the Chucks\’ trio of Max Fairman, Steve Fike and Jesse Branken, who carded 40s.
Matt Duncan tied his best nine-hole score of the year with a 39 for Coach Willie Vokes\’ Bisons, who finished 3-9, including 2-8 in the Allegheny Mountain League South Division. Mark Krchnak posted a 41, his second-best score of the season.
       
Punxsutawney also won the junior varsity match 135-180. Zack Unch was low for Clearfield with a 48.

Punxsutawney ( 168)– Max Fairman 40, Stever Fike 40, Jesse Branken 40, Alex Young 48.  Other scrores:  Mike Kostock 51, Sean Smith 58.

Clearfield (179)– Matt Duncan 39, Mark Krchnak 41, Adam Rowles 48, Troy Graham 50.  Other scores:  Mike Kritzer 55, Ryan Gallaher 56.



PUNXSUTAWNEY JUNIOR VARSITY (135) — Cooper Fairman 44, Tyler Grayson 45, Tyler Loennig 46. Other scores: Jared Mennes 54, Derek Quick 54.

CLEARFIELD JUNIOR VARSITY (180) — Zack Unch 48, John Williams 59, Derek Lippert 73.
