HYDE — Brookville proved why it is the reigning Allegheny Mountain League champion by defeating the Clearfield Area High School golfers 157-189 in a South Division match at the Clearfield-Curwensville Country Club Thursday afternoon.
Patrick Fritz paced the tightly-bunched Blue Raider team with a 37, one stroke better than teammate C.G. Mercatoris.
Matt Duncan\’s 45 was low for Coach Willie Vokes\’ Bisons, who stand 2-6 in the AML-South and 3-7 overall.
Vokes has entered Duncan, Brandon Boyer and Mark Krchnak in the District 9 Tournament, which begins Monday morning with an 18-hole round at the Pinecrest Country Club near Brookville. The low 16 will return the following Saturday for the second 18, which will decide the district\’s eight qualifiers for the inaugural PIAA Western Regional Championships at Toms Run near Blairsville on Monday, Oct. 16.
