CLEARFIELD – Whether or not a Shawville man will have charges regarding the theft of a weather device will be decided at a later date.
Randy Joe Gill, 22, had his case continued. Gill is accused of breaking into an Irvona residence on Aug. 2 with an accomplice and stealing a barometer.
Barometers are commonly used to measure atmospheric pressure. This item was valued at $100.
The affidavit states that the investigating officer checked an unattended vehicle parked at Camburg Auto Sales in Ansonville. The tire patterns seemed to match those at the scene of the crime. In plain view was the barometer as well as the window that was was broken from the residence where the barometer came from.
Police stated that the alleged victim arrived on scene to determine whether or not the weather device was indeed the one in question, and it was.
Eventually Gill was reported to have arrived to pick his vehicle up. The affidavit states that Gill did admit to breaking the window and taking the barometer.
Gill faces charges of burglary, criminal conspiracy to commit burglary, criminal trespass, criminal conspiracay to commit criminal trespass, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and criminal mischief.
