St. Marys Fire Ruled Arson

ST. MARYS – State police have determined that a fire that damaged J&T Performance and Machining and several classic vehicles, parts and accessories was caused by arson.

The fire started at about 11:19 p.m. Wednesday in a building on State Street in St. Marys. Firefighters were able to aggressively fight the blaze, according to police, which kept damage at a minimum.

Firefighters also removed all of the classic cars from the building during the fire.

Police estimate total damage at $100,000.

State police were assisted in their investigation by St. Marys City Police and Crystal Fire Department.

Crystal Fire Department was assisted at the scene by Fox Township Fire Department, Ridgway Fire Department, Johnsonburg Fire Department, St. Marys Ambulance and the American Red Cross.

The investigation continues.
