Kids Cited for Violating Vehicle Code; Police Issue Reminder

CLEARFIELD – Adults are well aware that failing to drive in accordance with the Pennsylvania vehicle code can earn them their very own traffic citation. What they might not know, however, is that if their children aren’t careful, they could receive one too.

Lawrence Township Police responded to a complaint of juveniles on bicycles who were causing a traffic hazard Wednesday in the Hyde area. Nine juveniles were issued citations for violating the vehicle code.

Police remind parents and caregivers that bicycle riders are responsible for following the vehicle code and can be cited.

Children under the age of 12 can also be cited for not wearing a helmet.
