FALLS CREEK – Drivers in and around Falls Creek will need to be on alert in the coming days as two projects are under way in that area.
In the first, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said the Buffalo and Pittsburgh Railroad, in coordination with Atlas Railroad Construction, will begin work Wednesday. Work will be performed to improve the railroad crossing on Route 830 in Sandy Township, near Falls Creek Borough. The project is expected to be complete by Monday.
Crews will be replacing the roadway surface at the crossing with a concrete surface. Work will require a temporary one lane roadway — allowing for traffic to alternate through the area as work takes place. The flaggers will route traffic around the work on an alternating basis. Motorists will encounter signage prior to the work site.
The other project includes roadwork near Falls Creek along Route 219 and Route 830 including the intersection area.
Work began on Monday when crews started milling operations on the westbound on and off ramps of Interstate 80.
PennDOT warns that delays may be experienced through the area, with work also taking place on a different 219 project just outside of DuBois.
Work on both projects is weather-dependent.
