Local firefighters complete certification

CLEARFIELD – Three members of the Clearfield Volunteer Fire Department completed the certification process for Fire Fighter I. The purpose of this program is to identify emergency service personnel who demonstrate competency in the performance requirements necessary to perform the duties of a firefighter.

The National Fire Protection Association Standard for Fire Fighter Professional Qualifications, 1992 edition, identifies the minimum requirements for a person at the first level of progression.

A person certified at the Fire Fighter I level will have demonstrated competency in the necessary knowledge and skills, while working under direct supervision, to function safely and effectively as a member of a firefighting team.
