MILESBURG – Traffic patterns near and at the Milesburg interchange will take place this week as the Interstate 80 Milesburg/Bellefonte project continues.
On Wednesday, crews will remove concrete barrier along state Route 150 that has been restricting north and southbound passing lanes. Concrete barriers will also be removed at both Milesburg exit westbound ramps. Concrete barriers will be placed on I-80 westbound (east of old U.S. Route 220) in order to perform repair work.
Traffic will be partially shifted onto the existing 10-foot shoulders during that repair work. All work is weather-dependent and is expected to take place Wednesday.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation project began in 2005 with westbound roadway and structure work and continues through 2006 with eastbound work between mile markers 151 and 161. The contractor on the $43.3 million project is Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc.
Signage and variable message boards are in place to alert drivers to changing conditions. Construction information is also available on the Highway Advisory Radio System at 1640 on the AM dial.
PennDOT reminds drivers to remain alert and cautious through this area, obey posted speed limits, and to always buckle up.
