Speed leads to accident; one man hospitalized

MAHAFFEY – State police report that speed led to a weekend accident that put one man in the hospital with serious injuries.

Troopers reported that Tucker S. Bell, 24, of Mahaffey was traveling north on Covered Bridge Road at about 4 a.m. Saturday at an “excessive speed” when he was unable to negotiate a curve. His pickup truck skidded off of the roadway, rolling over an embankment and ejecting Bell from the vehicle.

Bell was taken to Punxsutawney Hospital by private vehicle. He was then flown to Allegheny General Hospital and is reported in serious condition in the facility’s trauma unit.

Bell was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

His truck sustained severe damage.
