CURWENSVILLE – The Curwensville Area High School softball team\’s opportunity to claim a second championship in as many days was washed away Thursday because rains made the Brockway Area High School field unplayable.

The District 9 Class A title game, pitting the No. 3 seed Lady Tide (19-2) against No. 4 Elk County Catholic, was moved to Friday at 3 p.m. at Brockway.

On Wednesday, Curwensville had secured the Moshannon Valley League crown with a 10-2 victory over Moshannon Valley in a game that had been suspended Friday at Amesville.

In the 9-A playoffs, the Lady Tide ousted No. 6 Coudersport 11-0 in five innings and No. 2 Smethport 2-1, while the Lady Crusaders eliminated No. 13 Cameron County 16-5 in five innings, No. 5 Clarion-Limestone 3-0 and No. 8 Brockway 5-2. Brockway had upset No. 1 Northern Potter 1-0 in the quarterfinals.
