Police Confirm Shooting at Trinity United Methodist Church

CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Borough Police Department has confirmed that a person was shot earlier this morning at Trinity United Methodist Church on South Second Street.
Police Chief Jeff Rhone said the incident happened around 6:30 Thursday morning. He said the victim in the case was seriously injured by a gunshot wound.
Rhone said the person was transported to a local emergency medical facility for treatment.
Rhone indicated that the suspect is known and agencies are trying to locate him.
Other departments involved in the case are the Lawrence Township Police Department, the Clearfield County Sheriff’s Department, the Pennsylvania State Police and the Pennsylvania Department of Forestry.
“They've been a fantastic resource for us,” Rhone said of the Dept. of Forestry.
It was not indicated where at the church the shooting occurred. At the scene members of the state police Forensics Unit and local police were scene entering the church on different occasions.
Rhone said that a press conference will be held at a later time on Thursday.
