LECONTES MILLS - An accident early this morning claimed the life of a girl and injured three others.
According to state police in Clearfield the accident occurred at 7 a.m. along state Route 879 and Congress Hill Road in Girard Township. A vehicle driven by the girl entered SR 879 from the intersection with Congress Hill Road into the path of a Mack truck driven by Paul Brown Jr. of Port Matilda.
Two passengers in the girl's vehicle, another girl and a boy, were injured and flown from the scene to Altoona Regional. Brown suffered minor injuries.
The girl who drove the car as pronounced dead at the scene by Clearfield County Deputy Coroner Michael Polachek.
Police were assisted at the scene by PennDOT, Clearfield Emergency Medical Services, Lawrence Township, Clearfield, BJW, Goshen and Lecontes Mills Fire Companies.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
