Miami, FL (CNS) - Jason DeRulo scores his first #1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 charts with his debut track, "Whatcha Say." The song, which samples Imogen Heap's "Hide and Seek," moves up to #1 from #2 last week on the strength of its radio play and digital sales. The single is the first from his upcoming debut album, which is slated to be released in the first quarter of 2010.
Last week's #1 from another newcomer, "Fireflies" by Owl City, is at #2 this week. Definitely not a newcomer and earning his second top 3 single off his album "The Blueprint 3" is Jay-Z who jumps from #13 last week to #3 with "Empire State of Mind," which features Alicia Keys. Jay-Z also takes the #7 spot with "Run This Town," which features Rihanna and Kanye West.
Former #1 "Down" by Jay Sean is down to #4 this week, while Miley Cyrus is also down one to #5 with "Party in the U.S.A."
