Los Angeles, CA (CNS) - Former teen star Mackenzie Phillips, co-star of the sitcom "One Day At a Time," was arrested at the Los Angeles airport on Wednesday. She was allegedly found to be carrying drugs after the airport police searched her.
Phillips was headed to New York when she failed to pass a security screening. The secondary screening then revealed that the former actress was carrying on her a small amount of heroin and cocaine.
Phillips, daughter of the lead singer John Phillips of the Mamas and the Pappas, has struggled with addictions in the past. She was previously fired from the series "One Day At a Time" for drug related issues. The show ran from 1975 to 1984.
In 1999, Phillips co-starred in the Disney Channel series "So Weird" playing rock star Molly Phillips alongside actress Cara DeLizia. She later went on to guest star on "Caroline in the City."
