As the Penn State football team heads into the bye week, it is an astounding 8-1. It’s astounding because no one expected the Nittany Lions to be 8-1 at this point in the season. The Penn State football team is 6-1. Don’t ask us how the Nittany Lions are 6-1, no one really knows. After a Week Two thumping at the hands of Alabama, the Lions have reeled off five consecutive wins. They haven’t been pretty wins, for sure. For the first time since 2007, the Penn State football team defeated Iowa. The last time that happened, Anthony Morelli (no relation) was quarterbacking the Nittany Lions. Another week, another ugly win for the Nittany Lions. This week, Penn State had to hang on for dear life against the Indiana Hoosiers in a 16-10 misadventure in Bloomington. We learned two things during last week’s Penn State game with Eastern Michigan. 1. Eastern Michigan is terrible. 2. Matt McGloin should be the Nittany Lions’ starting quarterback.
