An incident of criminal mischief occurred sometime between 11 p.m. Thursday and 8:10 a.m. Friday along Boone Mountain Road in Fox Township, Elk County. – Police responded to a two vehicle crash that occurred on Main Street, Johnsonburg Borough, Thursday. The crash occurred as Floyd H. Waters, 41, of Johnsonburg was traveling North on SR. 219 and turned onto Main Street and srtuck a vehicle operated by Amy Oler of Johnsonburg, which was stopped at a stop sign. A 27-year-old Johnsonburg woman was observed on video taking merchandise without paying for them. Charges of retail theft were filed through the district court. An incident of DUI occurred at 1:40 a.m. Sunday along state Route 555 in Jay Township, Elk County. A 26-year-old Curwensville man was stopped for a traffic violation and suspected to be DUI. He was transported to the Elk Regional Health System, where he consented to a blood test. The test determined that he was in excess of the .08 percent legal limit. The investigation continues into the death of 26-year-old Champion man that occurred sometime between 4 p.m. Sunday and 11:20 a.m. Tuesday along the east side of state Route 948 in Ridgway Township. The victim appears to have suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Police were assisted at the scene by the Ridgway Ambulance and the Elk County Coroner’s office. Read More →
