An incident of simple assault occurred at 2:30 a.m. May 19 near West Presqueisle and Front streets in Philipsburg Borough, Centre County. A 26-year-old man allegedly struck a known 30-year-old woman in face, causing severe bruising around her eye and a laceration on her cheek. A hit-and-run was reported to state police. The incident occurred on May 8 along East Pine Street. An unknown vehicle was traveling eastbound and struck the rear of a vehicle parked along the road.
